The wines by Viña Morandé received excellent scores in Luis Gutiérrez's latest report published by the US magazine The Wine Advocate. Gutiérrez especially highlighted the consistency of our Gran Reserva line, with scores ranging from 90 to 93 points, thus recognizing the signature of their noble origins and innovative winemaking methods....

We are pleased to let you know the excellent score granted by DWWA –one of the most important and influential wine contests of the world-, to our House of Morandé 2018. This high-end wine, one of the most emblematic Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley, also backed by a long history, was awarded a gold medal and 96 points. The acknowledgment was for its tannin structure of great finesse and its soft, elegant, and persistent ending on the palate. ...

We are pleased to communicate that our acclaimed Golden Harvest, Edición Limitada 2013 from the Casablanca Valley, was acknowledged as Sweet Wine of the Year by Tim Atkin, the renowned British wine critic. Golden Harvest is a unique late harvest wine, which Atkin awarded 96 points, produced in limited amounts and only under very special climatic conditions that allow its Sauvignon Blanc grapes to be 100% affected by botrytis cinerea or noble rot. 2013 was additionally a special vintage since it was the first time that our winemaker Ricardo Baettig and his team, managed to imprint the particular seal passed on to them by Pablo Morandé....

Until 2008, the grapes that gave life to our Edición Limitada wines and to our House of Morandé were received at the winery –after having been harvested in small boxes- to be submitted to a berry selection by hand. For this purpose, the grape boxes were emptied on a receiving hopper that moved them onto the de-stemmer. The berries, already separated from the stems, were then placed on a vibrating table that spread them out and led them to another, longer table....

In our vineyards of the Maipo Valley, where we grow exclusively red varieties, the 2020/2021 growing season displayed excellent conditions. The generous winter rains helped to considerably reduce the effects of the extended drought in the area, which allowed replenishing the groundwater and accumulating snow in the mountains, thus ensuring irrigation during the summer months....

Under the current circumstances, Tim Atkin, the well-known British critic and Master of Wine, was unable to travel to Chile to prepare his long-awaited Special Report on Chilean wines. Instead of touring the wine regions, visiting wineries, and interviewing different winemakers (as usual), for his 2021 report Atkin tasted the wines online. We share here with great pride, the excellent scores granted to Viña Morandé by one of the most respected voices in the international wine scene....

The thinning of clusters is a cultural practice used in high-end vineyards that consists of removing whole clusters or parts of them (such as shoulders, wings or tips) in order to reduce fruit load and improve fruit quality....

The 2021 harvest, whose growing season started in 2020, began with an excellent spring. And before that, with a winter that, although still deficient in precipitation, was much better than the previous year. This made it possible to recover, to a large extent, the water table and to accumulate abundant reserves of snow. In Maipo, rainfall increased from 60 to 180 mm and in Casablanca from 95 to 290 mm, although the historical levels were 350 and 410 mm respectively....

For Viña Morandé, sustainability has been essential in developing all its productive undertakings. Since its inception, this concept has permeated all aspects of its tasks, which include the work in the vineyards and at the winery, as well as its responsibility to its collaborators and its social environment....

While veraison –the process when grapes start changing their color- is slowly progressing in Casablanca, at Viña Morandé, we have taken a moment to share with you our impressions of the 2020-2021 growing season. And to make a forecast of what the next harvest might be in the valley where Pablo Morandé, founder of our winery, was a pioneer in planting vines a quarter of a century ago....

According to the prestigious North American critic, “the diversity of styles and varieties that Chile’s winegrowing sector is currently offering, especially related to Mediterranean grapes,” has been a great revelation. In line with this perception, two of Viña Morandé’s wines –Mediterráneo 2017 and Vigno 2018– were included in his 2020 Report that points out the country’s 100 most outstanding wines....

We are pleased to communicate that we’ve added a new sparkling wine to our portfolio. Made using the Charmat method, it keeps the same quality standards but will be more accessible as it is possible to purchase it both in supermarkets and in specialized stores....
