PIONERO: THE TRIBUTE TO THE SPIRIT OF VIÑA MORANDÉ

A reflection of the innovative and visionary personality that has defined the winery since its inception, the Pionero wine line seeks to show the potential of its vines, coming from two great origins: the Casablanca and Maule valleys.

Pionero, one of Viña Morandé’s most recognized lines, is without a doubt the one that symbolizes the spirit of Morandé, the one that always leads us to explore new lands, new blends and new styles. For the vineyard, these wines reflect the potential they possess in the Casablanca and Maule valleys, where the expression of the fruit is the main protagonist.

And it is that Pionero, has 3 pillars that make it one of the most relevant lines of Morandé wines:

– It has a wide portfolio in which each wine comes from a single D.O.

Pionero’s portfolio consists of 8 wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Merlot, País, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay from the Maule Valley; and Pinot Noir and Rosé originating from the Casablanca Valley. All of them are the result of a search to find the best origin for each variety, trying to extract the fruit character of each strain to the maximum.

The Pionero line represents the tradition and knowledge of Viña Morandé.

Pablo Morandé, founder of Viña Morandé, was a visionary when he believed in the potential of the Casablanca Valley. In fact, he was the first to plant vines and bet on the development of this valley. Well, the Pionero line pays tribute to this milestone and discovery, since it represents the vision, tradition and knowledge of the vineyard and that great “pioneering” spirit of Morandé. In fact, the label precisely depicts this milestone with the icon of the figure of Pablo Morandé.

– The wines of the line come from renowned valleys.

All the wines in the line come from the Casablanca Valley or the Maule Valley. Both internationally recognized for being outstanding terroirs of our country. The Casablanca Valley is nestled between the Coastal Range and the Pacific Ocean, about 80 km from Santiago, in central Chile. Its status as a “cold climate valley” has given it excellent recognition, which translates into ideal conditions for growing red varieties such as Pinot Noir.

For its part, the Maule Valley is the largest wine region in Chile and is also the one with the most diversity in geographical and climatic terms. Its soils are mostly of granite origin and its climate, mainly Mediterranean, with a great influence of cold wind from the Andes mountain range, which helps the ripening of the fruit in good conditions. In this area we can find red grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenère; and white, such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

In this way, Pionero represents the restless spirit of the vineyard, which for more than 25 years with superior quality wines, a deep respect for the terroir and a constant focus on innovation has allowed us to create wines that reflect the dynamic spirit and adventurous and the best expression of the terroirs from which they come.
