The Morandé Adventures range shines bright at the Descorchados Wine Guide

The excellent scores awarded by Descorchados 2022 to the wines that make up the Morandé Adventures range acknowledge the remarkable pioneering work carried out by our winery to rescue and highlight the Chilean heritage grape varieties. These recognitions also reward the originality achieved in remote vineyards, and in some of the country’s lesser-explored areas.

We proudly share the outstanding scores granted by Descorchados 2022 -the Wine Guide published by the Chilean wine-journalist Patricio Tapia- to the wines that make up Morandé Adventures. The origins of this wine range can be traced back to the beginnings of our winery, created it to offer unconventional wines made with great passion. The idea behind Adventures is to play, experiment and reinvent the traditions with an avant-garde vision.

Of immense relevance for us are the 94 points granted to VIGNO 2019, chosen by Descorchados as one of the guide’s best Carignans. This variety has had a long tradition at Viña Morandé since it has been one of our most consistent bets during the last 25 years. We were one of the first to bottle and label a wine as such in times when only a few had heard the name Carignan and even less had tasted its delicious expression of red fruits from Maule. And we were one of the first founding members of VIGNO (Association of Carignan producers), which has brought so much success to Chilean wine.

In this range, we also want to highlight the 92 points awarded to Bestiario 2020 and its inclusion among the guide’s best orange wines. It is made with Marsanne and Roussanne (both white varieties) from the Maule Valley, but its grapes are fermented as if they were red (with their skins) instead of using only the juice (like in traditional whites).

We would also like to point out the 93 points granted to Despechado 2021 (Pinot Noir from Casablanca), and the 92 points for the following wines: Creole 2021 (Cinsault-País from Itata), El Gran Petit 2020 (Petite Sirah-Petit Verdot from Cachapoal Andes), Mediterráneo 2019 (Grenache-Syrah-Carignan-Marsanne and Roussanne from Maule) and El Padre 2019 (Cabernet Franc from Maipo). Finally, we are also thrilled by the 91 points for Aterciopelado 2021 (País-Malbec from Maule), all wines that are part of the Morandé Adventures range.
