Discovered 40 years ago by Viña Morandé’s founder, Pablo Morandé, the Casablanca Valley has long been recognized for its world-class white wines. With the launch of Casatinta in 2024, following a decade of research, and the acclaim it has received from top wine critics, the region begins a new chapter in its history.

Produced at the Belén vineyard, Morandé Casatinta is a carefully crafted blend of 72% Malbec, 24% Syrah, and 4% Cabernet Franc. This site stands out for its red granite soils and privileged location on the northwest slope, allowing optimal sun exposure and creating ideal conditions for exceptional grape ripening.

In its own way, Casatinta expresses the freshness and minerality that are hallmarks of its terroir, combined with the structure and complexity the blend delivers. Malbec brings a distinctive floral character and delicate red fruit notes. Syrah adds layers of black fruit and a unique olive nuance typical of Casablanca. Cabernet Franc contributes tannins and spice notes, enriching the wine’s complexity.

Since its debut, this combination has garnered high scores and praise from influential critics. The inaugural 2020 vintage earned notable ratings Alistair Cooper MW (94 points) and Descorchados (94 points), where it was named Vino Revelación 2024.

The 2021 vintage raised the bar even higher, achieving 96 points from James Suckling, 95 points from Descorchados, and 93 points from both La CAV and Vinous Media.
