03 Jun MORANDÉ ADVENTURE: AN INVITATION TO EXPLORE NEW ROOTS OF CHILEAN WINE
At Viña Morandé, we believe that innovation and exploration are fundamental pillars for the development of an authentic, diverse, and forward-looking wine industry. From this conviction arises Morandé Adventure, a wine line that breaks the mold and dares to challenge conventions. These are wines made without rules, guided by a free, creative, and bold approach. We like to call them “oenological adventures” because each one represents a unique quest to surprise through quality, character, and originality.
The portfolio consists of eight unique wines, crafted mainly from non-traditional grape varieties, using uncommon winemaking methods and offering a fresh take on Chile’s winemaking heritage. Far from replicating formulas, each wine in this line tells its own story—a contemporary reinterpretation of our roots and a bold bet on the future of Chilean wine.
Aterciopelado is one of those stories. Born from the País grape—traditionally associated with simple country wines—this wine pays homage to its origins while elevating it to a new dimension. Its delicate, complex, and elegant expression demonstrates the immense potential this variety can achieve when handled with respect and expertise.
In the same spirit of radical innovation is Bestiario, a white wine made as if it were red. Crafted from Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier—grapes rarely explored in Chile—this wine defies convention by offering freshness, texture, and character in an unexpected combination that challenges the palate.
Despechado leads us down a path of honesty and well-understood simplicity. This fresh, fruity, and friendly Pinot Noir captures the grape’s purest essence in a light and unpretentious version—ideal for those who seek easy-drinking wines with personality. In contrast, El Padre embraces the structured elegance of Cabernet Franc, a variety long overshadowed by Cabernet Sauvignon, yet here shines brightly with its finesse and varietal expression.
El Gran Petit, meanwhile, combines the power of Petite Sirah with the sophistication of Petit Verdot, resulting in a wine with round tannins, generous body, and juicy depth. Sourced from La Moralina vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley, this “little giant” surprises with its robust and enveloping character.
Antiguas Raíces is a co-fermentation that celebrates Mediterranean tradition with a Maulino twist. Garnacha, Syrah, Carignan, Marsanne, and Roussanne come together in a fresh and fruity wine known for its aromatic complexity and smooth mouthfeel.
For Syrah lovers, Tirazis offers an elegant and refined version made with grapes from cool-climate vineyards, enhancing the wine’s acidity and complexity. Finally, Colinas de Ránquil closes the line with a profound expression of País, sourced from an exceptional terroir that yields a structured wine with defined tannins.
With Morandé Adventure, we invite consumers to see Chilean wine through a new lens: freer, more diverse, and more authentic. Because we believe that true innovation begins when we dare to explore without fear.
