Exploring the Identity of Selección de Viñedos

As a winemaker, it is always a great challenge to convey the passion and dedication behind the crafting of each bottle. Behind every label lies meticulous work in the vineyard and the cellar, aiming to bring the best expression of each variety directly to the tables of hundreds of consumers.

At Selección de Viñedos, the choice of terroir is a key piece in the process, as the wines carry the purest essence of these places. In the case of this line, the chosen valleys were Casablanca and Maipo, as it is in these origins where we find the most authentic expression of the grape varieties we cultivate.

We selected the Casablanca Valley and the Maipo Valley to produce our wines due to a unique combination of geographical, climatic, and soil factors that are ideal for cultivating high-quality grapes.

The Casablanca Valley is distinguished by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, creating a cool and maritime microclimate. The cool breezes and morning fog from the ocean help moderate daytime temperatures, resulting in grapes with balanced acidity and slow ripening that promotes aromatic intensity and freshness in our white wines, particularly in varieties like Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Additionally, the alluvial and clay soils contribute to the minerality and complexity of our wines.

On the other hand, the Maipo Valley is known for its warm and Mediterranean climate, with sunny days and cool nights during the growing season. This provides optimal conditions for growing red varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carmenere. The soils here are mainly of alluvial origin, with good drainage capacity and rich in minerals, promoting healthy vine development and flavor concentration in the grapes.

In summary, both the Casablanca and Maipo Valleys offer unique conditions that positively influence the quality and character of our wines. The combination of microclimates, soils, and selected grape varieties allows us to produce high-end wines that faithfully reflect the terroir of each region.

In Casablanca, the grapes for our Selección de Viñedos Gran Reserva Pinot Noir receive a significant coastal influence, giving them an explosion of fruity aromas that result in a fresh, vibrant, and juicy wine.

Our Sauvignon Blanc, also from this area, is another testament to the unique influence of the Pacific Ocean. Very fresh and citrusy, the wine is juicy, intensely fruity, and mineral with good volume and a long finish.

The Chardonnay reveals a perfect balance between citrus aromas, creamy notes, and freshness on the palate, highlighting the versatility of this noble variety.

On the other hand, the Gewürztraminer, also from the Casablanca Valley, with its pale pearlescent yellow color, immerses us in its intense floral aromas and white fruit notes. Its oiliness and balance between sweetness and freshness make it perfect for pairing with appetizers and desserts.

From the Maipo Valley, we have the Selección de Viñedos Cabernet Sauvignon, which boasts notes of red fruits, tobacco, and bitter chocolate. Its fine tannins and firm structure reflect the authenticity of this iconic grape.

The Carmenere, also from Maipo, is a wine with a violet-red color and intense aromas. On the palate, fresh flavors of red fruits, tobacco, and black pepper unfold, making it an ideal wine to pair with lean meats or pasta.

Selección de Viñedos Merlot, sourced from the Romeral vineyard in Maipo, dazzles with its intense red color and notes of fresh red fruits, white pepper, and cedar. Its juiciness, elegant tannins, and freshness make it an exceptional choice for any occasion.

This is how each Selección de Viñedos wine is more than a blend of grapes and barrels; it is the materialization of the passion, knowledge, and commitment that we, as a winery, invest in every step of the process. Each bottle is unique, carrying with it the story of its vineyard and the dedication of an entire team.
