On September 27, 2022, we inaugurated our beloved Bodega Aventura. A place that not only houses the highest technology for winemaking but also embodies, 100%, the restless and exploratory spirit of Viña Morandé. For us, the value of innovation, going beyond, experimenting, testing, and daring came to life with the construction of this winery, allowing us to showcase to the world our essence and deepest DNA.
In our more than 25 years of history as Viña Morandé, our mission has always been to drive the national industry by creating unique, authentic wines that showcase the full potential of Chile. Therefore, we have repeatedly studied our soils in depth, understood our climates, tried different grape varieties, and given space to those heritage grapevines that have been developing in our country for years.
Based on these objectives and ideals, Bodega Morandé was created. Located in Pelequén, in the heart of the Cachapoal Valley, the winery was built in such a way that it is part of the vineyard, deeply rooted in its soil. The choice of having an underground winery is due to two factors: the first is to care for the environment by minimizing intervention in the field as much as possible, and the second is to use gravity in favor of the wines. A gravity-based winery not only takes care of the grapes but also allows for significant energy savings, which is crucial for us in the production of our wines.
Thus, this winery has allowed us to experiment throughout this first year with new grape varieties, test winemaking techniques, fermentation, and aging methods at the forefront of technology, and continue to grow in terms of quality and quantity in our portfolio. In fact, we experienced the entire harvest process for the 2023 vintage at Aventura, and it was wonderful to put to the test all the capabilities and functions of this incredible infrastructure.
