Viña Morandé and the Casablanca Valley

Our relationship with the Casablanca Valley spans over 25 years. It all began when our founder, Pablo Morandé, recognized the incredible potential of the area and decided to plant the first Sauvignon Blanc vines. Since then, the success and recognition of Casablanca have only been on the rise, and today it is one of the most renowned terroirs in the country, home to a significant portion of the national wine production.

Throughout this time, we have been both witnesses and participants in the incredible evolution that the valley has undergone. We have seen how its soil and climate characteristics have increasingly captivated wine producers and those who have tasted the end products: wines known for their minerality, good structure, and fruitiness.

Over these more than 25 years, we have also been able to acquire deep knowledge of this area, which, in line with our pioneering and innovative spirit, we have continuously studied through the production of different grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc.

From this valley, specifically from the El Sueño area in the cool Lo Ovalle sector, comes our Vitis Única Sauvignon Blanc. A wine known for its elegance, balance, and freshness. Similarly, our Selección de Viñedos Chardonnay, sourced from the Belén vineyard, where clay soils and maritime influence allow the grapes to develop great aromatic expression, stands out for its citrus aromas and creamy notes.

Morandé Adventure Despechado also hails from the Casablanca Valley, a 100% Pinot Noir wine that reflects the delicacy of the grape with its rusticity, simplicity, and honesty. And if we must mention a red wine from the area, we cannot overlook Morandé Adventure Tirazis, a 100% Syrah with aromas of white pepper and black fruit, combined with spices and a hint of herbs, known for its balance between acidity and tannins.

The Casablanca Valley’s potential remains intact after all these years, and we are convinced that it is a terroir that will continue to be talked about for many more years to come. Here, traditional grape varieties have found a cold climate valley that allows them to slowly ripen, thus bringing out the best expression of their variety.
