Vitis Única, Passion and Dedication from Viña Morandé

Experimentation and innovation have been the cornerstones of Viña Morandé since its inception. These characteristics, which we have faithfully followed over the years, have consistently allowed us to produce wines that surprise, wines that have had no precedents in the industry and have stood out for their grape varieties, origin denominations, and vinification methods.

An example of this is the Vitis Única line, a portfolio of wines from traditional grape varieties that come from the selection of specific sectors within each of their terroirs. This choice, combined with unconventional winemaking techniques such as manual stomping, fermentation with stems, the use of foudres, lagares, cement eggs, and ceramic vats, to name a few, results in wines of great complexity, structure, and elegance.

In the Vitis Única portfolio, terroir is paramount. Through the selection of specific sectors in each of their vineyards, each wine in the line seeks to enhance the typicity of each of its varieties.

Vitis Única Chardonnay, a wine with great freshness and volume, luscious, delicate, with a delicious balance between acidity and fruit; Vitis Única Sauvignon Blanc, complex in flavors, fresh, mineral with citrus notes of grapefruit, herbs, and white peach; and Vitis Única Pinot Noir, an intense, very fruity and floral wine, with good body, elegance, complexity, and persistence, all come from the Casablanca Valley.

The Casablanca Valley is the cold climate valley par excellence in our country, and it is one of the great terroirs to produce white varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as fresh reds like Pinot Noir. Its marine influence cools the vineyards and favors slow vine ripening, contributing great freshness, balance, and elegance to the wines.

On the other hand, Vitis Única Cabernet Sauvignon, which stands out for its great body, abundant velvety tannins, and great aging potential; and Vitis Única Carmenère, a fruity, complex wine with earthy flavors and massive, velvety tannins, come from the Maipo Valley.

This is another of Chile’s most emblematic valleys. Its exceptional conditions for the cultivation of Bordeaux varieties, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, have made it globally recognized. The great influence of the Andes Mountains, as well as its nutrient-poor alluvial soils, allows for great elegance and typicity in its wines.

Finally, Vitis Única Mourvedre, an unusual proposal within the portfolios of Chilean wines. It is a little-explored grape variety but with great potential, and in this wine, it translates into freshness, great aromas, and an elegant body. Vitis Única Mourvedre comes from the Maule Valley, the largest wine region in Chile and the one with the greatest diversity in geographical and climatic terms, including flat and sunny valleys, coastal hills, and a long central corridor. The climate in this area is mainly Mediterranean, with a significant influence of cold winds from the Andes, increasing daily temperature fluctuations and reducing the period of maximum temperatures, aiding the fruit maturation in optimal conditions.

Thus, Vitis Única is a portfolio that is truly worth getting to know. Not only is it composed of exceptional traditional grape varieties, but it also has outstanding origins and unconventional winemaking techniques. Undoubtedly, these wines are the result of a journey of exploration, passion, and dedication from our vineyard.
